What Concrete Work Costs in Oceanside
Here is what an Oceanside concrete job costs, piece by piece, from public prices we checked on October 31, 2026. Each number links to its source. None of it is our quote.
Quick Points
- Replacing a 400 sq ft driveway slab runs $3,992 to $7,328
- A 90 lb bag is $6.87 at the Oceanside Home Depot
- A residential driveway at the curb is $569 in city fees
- Cement masons here average $35.73 an hour
Start With the Slab
Two public agencies publish what concrete work costs per square foot. They use the lists to size bonds on street jobs. The prices are installed, with labor and material. The County list from July 2024 is the low end. The Carlsbad list from next door, dated November 2024, is the high end.
| Job | Low | High |
|---|---|---|
| Tear out and replace a 400 sq ft driveway slab | $3,992 | $7,328 |
| New 200 sq ft patio, 10 by 20 ft | $1,568 | $2,928 |
| Tear out and replace a 4 by 50 ft walk | $1,996 | $3,664 |
The math. A new 4 inch slab is $7.84 to $14.64 a sq ft. Removal is $2.14 to $3.68 a sq ft. Add the two for a replacement and multiply by the size. The lists are not bids, and your lot will move the number.
Add the City for Street Work
A driveway or walk on your lot at 30 inches or less above grade needs no building permit in Oceanside. The approach at the curb does need a right of way permit. The city Engineering fee schedule for July 2025 to June 2026 lists $569 for a residential driveway. If the $574 minor right of way fee is also charged, the total is $1,143. New public sidewalk is $507 per 100 sq ft.
Ask Engineering at (760) 435-5097 for the current amount. Details are in our permit guide.
Concrete by the Yard
No ready mix plant in the County posts a retail price online. The closest public number is a city contract. The City of San Diego buys from Pedroza Ready Mix under a supply contract signed in October 2024. It lists $205.50 a cubic yard for 3,250 psi and $212.50 for 4,000 psi. Color in the truck adds $30 a yard.
That is a big buyer rate inside San Diego. An Oceanside order is a longer haul and a smaller load, so expect more per yard plus a possible short load charge. Ask the plant for both numbers.
Bags and Supplies on the Shelf
At the Oceanside Home Depot, a 90 lb bag of Quikrete concrete mix was $6.87 on October 31, 2026, with 727 in stock. The Quikrete data sheet says a 90 lb bag makes about 0.675 cubic feet. One cubic yard takes 40 bags, or $274.80.
| Item | Price |
|---|---|
| #4 rebar, 10 ft | $6.32 |
| #4 rebar, each for 50 or more | $5.37 |
| Remesh sheet, 42 by 84 in | $21.67 |
| 2x4 by 8 ft form board | $3.95 |
| 24 in grade stakes, 12 pack | $12.98 |
| Wet look sealer, 1 gallon | $39.98 |
The bag price is from the Oceanside store. The rest are Home Depot prices from the same day that matched at each county store we checked. Steel for a 400 sq ft slab on an 18 inch grid is 60 ten foot bars, about $322.
Where the Old Concrete Goes
The FHWA uses 145 pounds per cubic foot for normal concrete. A 400 sq ft slab at 4 inches is about 133 cubic feet, close to 9.7 tons.
The Miramar Landfill fee schedule from July 1, 2026 charges $257 a ton for C&D debris from outside the City of San Diego. That is about $2,490 to landfill the slab. Closer in, the City of San Diego list of certified C&D recycling facilities names Palomar Transfer Station in Carlsbad and EDCO CDI Recycling in San Marcos for mixed C&D loads. Call each for a rate.
What Concrete Workers Earn Here
The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports May 2025 pay for the San Diego, Chula Vista and Carlsbad area, which covers Oceanside. Cement masons and concrete finishers average $35.73 an hour, with a median of $31.98. Construction laborers average $29.08.
A day of wages for a mason and two laborers at the average is $751.12. The contractor also pays payroll tax, trucks, tools and the office, so the labor line on a bid runs higher.
What Changes an Oceanside Price
- Coastal lots, where the city may check the coastal zone first
- Salt air near the beach, which makes sealer upkeep matter
- Clay soil in the coastal plain that needs more base
- Curb and sidewalk work, which brings the right of way permit
- Stamping, color or exposed aggregate
- Truck access, or a pump on tight lots
